European stocks saw an increase on Thursday, with the Stoxx Europe 600 index finishing up 0.87% at 476.57. Notable gains were also seen in the FTSE 100, which rose by 1.33% to 7,648.98, the French CAC 40, which saw a 0.59% increase to 7,575.85, and the German DAX, which remained flat at 16,752.23.

Top Gainers

Among the constituents of the Stoxx Europe 600, technology company Samhaellsbyggnadsbolaget i Norden AB Series B experienced the biggest increase, with its shares surging by 15.5%. This was followed by investing/securities firm EQT AB with a 14.3% surge, and technology company ams-OSRAM AG with a 13.5% increase. Future PLC, a printing/publishing company, and Corbion N.V., another company, also experienced significant gains with their stocks rising by 12.8%.

Top Losers

Shares of insurance company Hannover Rueck SE saw the largest decrease among the constituents of the Stoxx Europe 600, with a decline of 5.7% on Thursday. This was closely followed by insurance firm Muenchener Rueckversicherungs-Gesellschaft AG and banking/credit company Banco de Sabadell S.A., which dropped 5.7% and 5.1% respectively. Viaplay Group AB Series B and insurance business Swiss Re AG rounded out the top five largest decreases, seeing their stocks fall by 4.7% and 4.6% respectively.

Currency and Commodities Update

The pound showed strength against the dollar, with GBPUSD up by 1.08%, while the euro also rose against the dollar, with EURUSD up by 1.05%. Brent crude witnessed a significant gain of 3.78% to reach $77.07.

Bond Yields

The yield on the 10-year gilt fell by 4.90 basis points to 3.785%, whereas the yield on the German 10-year bund declined by 5.860 basis points to 2.12%.
